just so u know, tab books are made by people like us, not the artist. so its not gonna be 100% correct. i think that the verse is actually tom sustaining one note, and going through the different harmonizations on the whammy.

actually he has one pickup's volume on 0 and the other on 10 and toggles between the two

The echo is made from the toggle switch (use your treble/bass switch and it acts as a kill switch if you put bass on guitar to 0) its not made from the whammy pedal. But both are used.
