This bass tab is good for the studio recording but if you're trying to learn the 1984 medley live recording, this tab is different. In many cases, the bass is simplified rhythmically in the live recording. Look at the first verse and chorus in the live recording for examples. Live, he's more pronounced and in sync with Chester's kick drum. If you check YouTube for the video about when Genesis hired their guitar player in 1977, he says Mike Rutherford told him that he didn't have to play songs note for note from the recordings. However, there are certain phrases that are used as cues to the rest of the band that have to be played. I think you will find that Rutherford did just that on the live recordings. I'm not sure he played everything note for note even in the live recordings from one tour to the next. This gave him flexibility to go with the feel each time he played. Overall, he's an excellent bass player and guitarist.
